Eduardo M. Oran Poems

If only I had a tight grip on previous thoughts,
This burden you left for me is arbitrary,
The cries for help were self-taught,
No one is authentic anymore; it's unsanitary.
...

Heart splattered on your body's canvas,
Ropes are torn from the rough bark,
Cries from children in the school campus,
Wishing your intentions weren't as dark.
...

I tapped you on the shoulder
Not once but multiple times,
I suppose it's not me again
It's the burden I left behind.
...

Midnight cruises aren't cutting it anymore,
I'm searching substances that aren't sold at any store,
What else do I have left to lose seems like I'm growing poor,
Sobbing is causing my heart to be sore.
...

Her body sways like a pecan tree,
Like a rare lonely summer breeze,
Her eyes alone are seductive some call her a tease,
But I, I still attempt to ask her to dance followed by a demanding 'Please? '
...

Everyday in class we would discuss our future,
What would life be like if I never excused her,
You said 'I love you' and I said it was mutual,
Then you said 'as a friend', that just made things unusual.
...

It has been a long day, sit down,
Let me pour you a glass of an elixir,
Your eyes - they're not your usual dark brown,
Don't be alarmed, it is only the cat's whiskers.
...

Grey garments, I'd like to soak your pain,
I'll mop your worries when it rains;
Let's walk across an open field,
Come with me and set down the shield.
...

To speak of you, is like reading from the finest piece of poetry,
To speak of you like so, is forbidden like adultery,
To speak of you is a delicacy,
To speak of you, it's almost impossible keeping celibacy.
...

Nothing ever lasts, it always ends the same,
Here's a box filled with repressed memories for you to claim.

Inside contains the moment when our paths crossed and met,

False Perception

If only I had a tight grip on previous thoughts,
This burden you left for me is arbitrary,
The cries for help were self-taught,
No one is authentic anymore; it's unsanitary.
Blinded by false perception,
I've longed and lingered for this,
Now I'm anxiously escaping the deception,
I'm helplessly trying to once again find bliss.

That slight thought of you is ineffable,
Its sharp and tumultuous memories are unfathomable.
