Losing A Loved One

Anxious but patiently waiting
A mother expectantly hungers
For her newborn, like a bride
Lusciously yearns for her groom

Love and anxiety lingers in the air
As the excruciating pain hitherto felt
Was not only worthwhile but is forgotten
A baby little and frail, a bundle of dreams

Doctors gnash and relatives scamper
As they find words to relay a message
A message so simple but heavy to bear
And seemingly longer than an epistle

A bundle of joy
Castle of dreams
A mother's hope
Now all, but ashes!

The little infant lived
But
Not beyond the sunrise!
A loved one, lost in the jaws of death!
