Ehi Abah Poems

The paths we take now seem to part
And our feet can naught but take the cue
We've come thus far both hand in hand
But feet and hand are both with one
...

The friend crossed his heart
The promise got broken
The builders built
The city's now in ruins
...

...The labour pains ceased
The new born shrieked
The shepherds bowed
And the angels sang
...

We had dared to hope...

We supported.
Campaign chants in the streets
...

When we hug ourselves and give in to wrenching sobs
It's not as though we imagine them in the depths of hell
When our red-rimmed eyes still pour out an ocean
It's not because they died too young to be great
...

I loved you so much I let you go
Or maybe I loved me too much to hold on
You'd planned our end before we began
And I feared my heart was too fragile
...

The smiley face in every closet
The sweetest voice in everyone's heart
The generous soul in every want
The presence there when you want him near.
...

Sweat beads the size of rocks
waist beads move in a flow
See her revibrate with zest
Her feet moving with the rest
...

Some are lowered in glasses made of wood
Arrayed in white and gold
As if they could take along those with them
Others in boxes of wood
...

10.

It's not the nine-month journey
That makes you a mother
It's not the tickles given
Right underneath the arms
...

I woke that day to the stars
To the stars of yesternight
Twinkling in the dark black sky
As a coy bride on her first night
...

I loved you to the death
The hope of us being one
Make me keep my face set
While the whips pierced deeper than a gun

Ehi Abah Biography

Hi. I'm Ehi, a poet whose works are greatly affected by her faith in Jesus the Christ, love, nature and the world around her. You will enjoy my poetry(yeah! I'm telling you) but most of all, they'll cause you to sit back and think. So what can I say? Read. Learn. Enjoy. And I am definitely not opposed to comments, votes, likes and messages. In fact, I'd love them. ;))

Waving Arms

The paths we take now seem to part
And our feet can naught but take the cue
We've come thus far both hand in hand
But feet and hand are both with one
So, leave we must with heavy hearts
As life, it seems, gives no other choice.

A friend you've been in need
A faithful friend in deed
Sticking closer than even a brother
And it pains me so to see you go
It hurts me so to know I'll go
Yet, hope I must to find a friend
Though, none will fit as snugly as you.

I leave dry-eyed, aye, I do
And entreat you to do the same
For, though, my heart overflows as an ocean
My face must be the Island
For I wish to keep the last sight of you a smile
To hold dear to my heart.

My arms in the air, my eyes filled full
My mouth held tight in forced submission
For, wish I do to say, 'Come back'
But, 'Good bye' I say to you, my friend
For, in life, we part to meet again
For a brighter tommorow lies beyond the horizon

'Our paths may later cross', I daresay
And hope I do to find you well
Our paths may never cross, maybe
For such is life in it's uncertainty.
So make good your life ahead with new friends
But remember me in smiles and in tears, as I will you.
