Eric Paeplow Poems

Sitting here, upon my chair,
Pondering the things, that ponderers do
Should I raise this issue?
Should I approach the Politicians of State?
...

Their lost voices drift on the wind,
I have fallen, please carry me home
Like shadows drifting between the leaves
From sunsets past, to now fading dreams
...

The dance of souls,
The dance of fate
Each dancing alone,
Each one,
...

On sullen ground, bleak and cold
My sentence, forever, with an eternity left to go
Having fallen from the sky, so high
Now earthbound, alone and unable to fly
...

Days and nights of untold dreams
Cast in shadows, to those that seem
To live and love and pass the days
Each in their own, separate ways
...

Born and raised a proper,
Tux and tails with a stiff white collar
Standing proud, tall and thin,
But it seems like, life just bugged him
...

Hope is stronger than hate
Faith, stronger than fate
Day turns to night
Night brings on your darkest fears
...

The war is on, it's time to fight
Loose the cannons, the politician's scream
Unleash the beast; let the gathering hoards surge forth
With a burning need for glory and a lust for blood and pain
...

In quiet repose, we lay alone in our lair
Lit by naught, but a lone candles flair
Where sane creatures slept, or at least tried
We lay entwined, enrapt in each other's eyes
...

A light wind swept over me
and all of nature smiled in the sunshine
While the earth laughed in flowers
and showed her beauty in the autumn's sunset sky
...

Once praised, then scorned, once worshiped, now forlorn
The Gods of the earth lay dormant, waiting to be reborn
Feared, praised, all powerful, then all at once, cast aside
Resting through the ages, forgotten, erased from our minds.
...

Here I sit, staring blankly at the horizon, blind to the view before me
My mind in a different place, a different plain all together
My soul torn open wide, bare to the world around
This foreign place, this other world, this dream of hope and sorrow
...

Alone with their sorrows,
alone with their pain
Sitting there,
in the same place,
...

There you stood, staring at the outside world
I walked up silently behind, where I stood

Still
...

I was born to a different time a different life, a different place
Where the bustling streets were busy, yet at a slower pace
And in this time and place, life was fine, my life was safe
Or so I foolishly thought, until at least, the day I met my fate
...

Under trees of amber glory and fields of flowing grass
I sat in rapt amazement, as the seasons slowly passed
As the midnight dark had faded, at the sunrise autumn sky
Giving way to the wondrous beauty, aglow before my eyes
...

By a lonely route, my path defined
Where the light of day, meets the dark of night
I reached these lands, pon solitary flight
Far removed, from space and time
...

Once upon a time, in the land of make believe
We were all happy people, all living in peace
No one ever suffered, no one was ever poor
There were no rich people left, no sir, not anymore
...

If I had a large amount of money
If I had a lot of time
I would found a hospital
For those who've lost their frickin' minds
...

Go on and sit there, lost within your world
Believing all the horrors, that you've ever heard
Trapped within your head and lost inside your heart
And there you sit, stuck in that same old spot
...

The Death Of Thomas Becket

Sitting here, upon my chair,
Pondering the things, that ponderers do
Should I raise this issue?
Should I approach the Politicians of State?

I came here, only to deliberate,
The complete and total, lack of debate
On the death of Lord Thomas Becket
Was it by intent, or merely by mistake?

The Archbishop of Canterbury?
A swords crushing blow?
What's that you said?
He's lost his head?

My, oh my, I guess that's how it goes
I guess it's true what they said
I wasn't the kick to the groin
But instead, that slash to the head

I guess indeed, it was that final swing
I guess it really is, good to be the King!
