Eric Rhodes Poems

Crowned by the lightness
of your touch,
as you lift my chalice
to your lips,
...

Divorced of repression
I am now free to show my love for you,
which shakes and heaves this temple
with waves of endless sorrow.
...

I watch the rain as it sways
in gusts,
like the curtains on the window.
Damp is everywhere,
...

4.

Night comes in with a shy reluctance
and is allowed to stay in this village,
but only for so long.
Before night can get comfortable
...

You have come to me so late
I have nearly died inside,
withered under the weight of evening frost.
...

Sigh of the Sea

Sometimes it's fleeting,
like the glitter of phosphorescence
...

I know, my love,
I am tested here in pleasure
like a drunkard in a wine cellar.
Wearing only my soft skin,
...

At times when my ego
is disillusioned with its lot
and screams out in surrender,
they are the moments, my love,
...

I follow the leaf with my eyes
as it haphazardly floats
its' final journey.
It was the last leaf for the willow
...

I have become incense,
lit by the flame of love
for my beloved.
My soul streams forth
...

Under a muffled gray sky
you rise like the morning sun
stretching from the horizon
with amber rays against a dusky night.
...

Resting
in the crisp autumn
air of humanity,
my heart sings
...

Maybe I am nearsighted,
I always had trouble
seeing you in the distance.
At least I thought
...

With intentions set,
secured by the taught
ropes of my will,
I am pushed towards my goal
...

When I feel the softness of your skin
pressing against me, my love,
I understand how easy it could be
to follow you home.
...

Like a kite,
dancing on your breath,
firmly in your grasp,
certain I cannot fall.
...

With the intoxicated zeal of youth
I ran to the desert,
excommunicating myself
from the world.
...

With the naive arrogance of success
I stepped to the cliff edge.
confident, I wore my intellectual
reason like a cloak of invincibility.
...

After keeping my heart
locked away like a ruby
in a safe box,
I see the reason
...

Before the sun hits Snow Creek
I am there,
ready for the hunt
with my luminescent
...

Eric Rhodes Biography

The novel 'The King, Father & Mother' and my poetry book 'Oasis of Love', are the culmination of years of spiritual searching, everyday living and a healthy dash of crisis. One often finds profound meaning in seemingly small events, such as discovering an ancient cross inscribed ogham stone or catching a glimpse of the beloved. The Best Poem Of Eric Rhodes

Vineyards Of Time

Crowned by the lightness
of your touch,
as you lift my chalice
to your lips,
tasting the sweetness
of this wine within.
How many lives
have searched for the grail,
wandering endlessly amongst
the vineyards of time.
In this infinite moment
it becomes meaningless
as I splash excitedly against
the sides of the cup,
mixing with the finer varieties
already inside you.
