Evan Lindeman Poems

I wish that I, like a gryphon, might soar amidst the clouds,
Shedding my skin to reveal my white feathers,
Bursting my vast wings from within my arms,
Heaving my great barreled chest from it's cramped cage.
...

True love is a flower that never withers, come sky or clouds, rain or sun-

The pollen of love blossoms forth, and the seeds of desire are ripe:
...

We are but an ephemeral speck-
A dust particle drifting in a moonbeam.
Suspended on silver pathways,
Gliding through the heavens,
...

Long under miserable covers I've cowered,
Cursing my luck and weakness and inaction,
But to you again, you cruel fascination,
I remind you to remember our days that flowered.
...

I look to my generation, and I see sans eyes,
I look to my parents' generation, and I see sans ears,
I look to my grandparents' generation, and I see sans eyes and ears,
I look at myself, and I wonder: 'What must life be, if without the company of any eyes to see me or ears to listen! '
...

This is my heart dear, as you left it.
Do you see?
Do you see its cracks and craters,
Its holes and havens
...

Your face, beautiful and untouchable.
A serene silhouette enwrapped in snowy fields of grass-
Fields of white grass enwrapped in darkness,
While you shine above it all.
...

If but t'were vast enough, and as fine,
The world to you its pleasures may suffice-
But as it stands whilst thou art mine,
There is no celestial body to which I'd look twice,
...

A swipe of red and sweep of black-
She rises, spins, perks and grins,
Grabs her bag, opens the window,
Emerges into the biting freeze.

Gryphon

I wish that I, like a gryphon, might soar amidst the clouds,
Shedding my skin to reveal my white feathers,
Bursting my vast wings from within my arms,
Heaving my great barreled chest from it's cramped cage.
My face elongating, hardening, curving.
My pupils dilating, widening, yellowing.
And then I with wizened gaze would observe my surroundings once more through new eyes,
Then take off with dizzying speed, the earthy scent of once-cares still lingering-
But once I reach the clouds they are gone, and I, liberated, might drift freely.
