You may write me down in history
with your bitter, twisted lies and game
you may toss me in the valley of dirt
like dust out of the huts of history's shame
...

I watched as she took deep breaths
with eyez wide shut
and angelx keepin watch
she travelled betwin times wit smiles on ha face
...

With legs agap
and head held high
he stood firm bridging the gap
between bravery and courage
...

He wandered about
with his head hanging down like grannies tit
the sun challanged him to a fight
buh he dizzled away
...

Where have all the flowers gone?
To the grave, to the grave! !
Where have we been blown by this great storm?
to where the rainbow endz we all trove.
...

Bitter blood and sweet sand
In chains and fastened bonds
Somewhere in faraway land of nowhere land
My brother lays
...

Walked for days and worked for nights
All for you and none for me
fought with kings, princes and knights
year to year, eve to eve
...

Red, puny and extremely foolish,
Blind as a bat yet the leader of the mullish,
'Follow your heart' as my Mama used to say,
little did she know, its all been taken away.
...

Ecstatic in delirium
Blind to the future's ambiguity,
Flap-flap my wings as i gleefully fly
Up all the way and down in an instant.

I'Ll Rise

You may write me down in history
with your bitter, twisted lies and game
you may toss me in the valley of dirt
like dust out of the huts of history's shame
I'll rise.

Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave
i am the dream and the hope of slaves
out of tears and sorrows bane
up from a past that's rooted in pain
I'll rise.

Do u want to see me broken?
with bowed head and lowered eyes
shoulders falling like tear drops
weakened by your persistent bitterness
I'll rise.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
don't you take it awfully hard?
cos i laugh like i have got a gold mine.
throw me down all you want
I'll rise.

You might shoot me with your words
you may cut me with your eyes
you may kill me in your heart with your hatefulness
but still like air
I'll rise.

I am a black ocean, leaping and wide
welling and swelling i bear in the tide
leaving behind nights of terror and fear
into a day break that is wondrously clear
I'll rise.
