Make a note of all the poems you've read so far. What ones have captured your emotions? Return to those poems and study them in detail.Let you heart resonate to the thoughts of the poetic words.Once you've done that learn a poem by heart, one of your favourite poems. Not a long poem and then say it to yourself when you can. After doing the steps suggested you'll apprciate more the rhythm and the flow of poetry.Once you have that try writing about your favourite pet. There is always a market for animal poems. And if you have a silly cat or a funny dog then there is your topic. Obviously there is always more to writing poetry but you can pick up th rest of the rules later on.
    Best wishes
