Gabbie Johnson Poems

I used to think this country, was wonderful and grand,
But now I know for a fact that it's just another piece of land.

I always salute our hero's back from war,
...

The world today is full of hate, tragedy and sin.
With all the anger and the pain its hard to look within.

'This time I think, I'm to blame
It's harder to get through the days
You get older and blame turns to shame
'Cause everything inside it never comes out right

America The Beautiful

I used to think this country, was wonderful and grand,
But now I know for a fact that it's just another piece of land.

I always salute our hero's back from war,
But I never could understand why they were there before.

I once thought we lived in a fairy tale world,
But now I know the truth, and it makes me wanna hurl.

If I could tell the families I'm sorry for their loss,
I would be doing much better than those government hogs.

I never understood why we treat our soldiers with shame,
Because it's not like their killings are to blame.

I cant help every soul who has seen devestation,
But I can be grateful, regardless of their situation.

I won't be sad when they are all in peace,
But I will be very ashamed of what they had to see.

I used to think this country was wonderful and grand,
But know I know this country is just another piece of land.
