georgios andritsos Poems

is this how it works?
so easy
so simple
so silent
...

I am tired of my morning torturer
dragging me out of my warm bed
throwing me into the morning ritual
of washing, of dressing
...

the air was cool inside
the church,
but felt heavy.
he lay in the coffin

we lie on the grass
in the late afternoon sunlight
the breeze rustles the leaves
of a scorched palm tree

Looking At The Twilight

is this how it works?
so easy
so simple
so silent
her legs buckled
and down she went
on the ground
next to a small gate, and
she began shuddering in her
yellow dress.
her eyes turned back
her lips turned blue
blue tears ran down her face
he ran for help
but
it was too late
they covered her with a
white sheet
and they stood there waiting
in the evening breeze.
it was sudden
it was summer
it was sad
and they stood there looking at the twilight,
wondering.
is this how it works?
