Of our kind

I live in the future
Anxious I'll never see it coming
I live in the past
Afraid I'll never see daybreak
...

Ambivalent, not willing to condone
For the sky stretches far into lands remote
Far off into lands unknown
Which only monoliths of lies seem to denote
...

I am just composed
Of worry and concern
Truths suddenly disclosed
As time always seemed to discern
...

Once there was color in the sky
In melody of the breeze
Symphonies unheard would resound
The horizon was more than a myth
...

You whispered away your promise
Silently, so the wind might steal it away
And that your given word
Would be lost in the breeze
...

This world, fuel for nightmares
Rid of romance, rid of condolences
Drove us off the brink
Broke or spines and left us with disbelief
...

Between sadness
And inspiration
Lies a single, solemn thread
Lonely and decayed
...

Undefined and yet tireless
In attempts to feel the sky cold, empty
Beneath my callous hands
I've come to wonder
...
