Hector Gonzales Poems

This morning I was walking with my dog
I was tired as he drug me wanting to jog.

The coolness made my muscles and bones stiff and achy
...

Everyday I have to cross the field and dirt
Without my shoes I know it will hurt.

When it is dry and there is no dew
...

If I was on Jackson’s time
I wouldn’t have a dime.

He just sits in the chair
...

When someone special leaves this world we wonder why,
we hug and hold family and friends and try to say goodbye.

Our hearts are heavy and souls become empty

Dog Walk

This morning I was walking with my dog
I was tired as he drug me wanting to jog.

The coolness made my muscles and bones stiff and achy
I started to miss the covers and wished I was warm and cozy.

My best friend didn’t care about the chill in the air
He was out on the leash driving forward with no despair.

As the morning sun cracked the east horizon
I felt the heat from the rays hit my face and started smiling.

I looked down at my dog who was very happy
I was glad I chose him to keep me company.

The morning was very quiet and tranquil
Fog on the ground made my soul feel peaceful.

I started to think about my day
Wandering what challenges were headed my way.

Whatever challenges came before me I would conquer them
For tomorrow I have to walk my dog.
