Recall with fondness, happiness of days gone by,
Hopes and dreams of childhood times.
Fairy tales of castles, princesses and kings,
Knights in shining armor jousting in the spring.
Pirates on the ocean engaging ships at sea,
Stealing off with treasures belonging to the king.
Robin Hood in the forest, columbus on the sea,
Marco Polo traveling, the pages seem to breathe.
Roman legions marching to the beat of drums,
Pyramids in Egypt shining in the sun.
Moses in a basket hid among the reeds,
Genies in a bottle waiting to be freed.
Socrates and Plato in ancient Greece,
Talking philosophy to people in the streets.
I go travelling every time I read
And open up new wonders for my mind to see.
