Poverty exudes odors
Desperation takes on hues
Uncertainty loudly clamours
Homeless move about
...

No not weak
This butterfly
This lovely fragile
Within my sigh
...

Fathom the earth without sorrow
Would the heart of the traveler show gain
To not lessen from dirt that was fashioned
From the bowels of the earth without pain?
...

Watch the clown as he cavorts by
See the tear in his sensitive eye
Wonder why with the crowds all cheer
The clown would cry

james smallwood Biography

I am a 59 year old morbidly obese male. That will flag the food police! ! ! I am uneducated and unpublished.I suffer a plethora of convoluted disorders gone untreated and only occasionally diagnosed.I am a laborer without labor or interest in hard work.I was a carney for a season, a yard cutter and foliage ruiner until I quit before I was sued.I have never had a dish wash job.I had a waiter once, but never the position, er, the job, position was missionary.I have become used to the mundane and dull existence of the poor and disenchanted.I subsist socially on hellos for too many c-store coffees and a occasional retreat from my room at a large and mostly empty coffee house.I am interested in writing yet have a ponderous time with reading anything not easy or quick.I write in your face social issues poetry that is hard to classify and difficult to find tempo in.I practice short story snippets that are violent and demented, usually a few hundred words then dont know where to go with piece so I dropp it and seldom go back to, though I keep them awhile.Well, this is more what I do than who I am so I will quit. Please feel free to say 'hi'.I will enjoy the quick fresh air of friendly composed greeting, there is a pun in there somewhere.jim....)

The Smell

Poverty exudes odors
Desperation takes on hues
Uncertainty loudly clamours
Homeless move about
In a cacophony of sound
Illness of the street people
Odors abound
Fear of future flattens
Death of innocence cries loud
Odors of the madness
Smell of poverty abounds
Senses acutely caressing
Filth of necessities sins
Odors changing futures
Individuals meld in sound
Poverty exudes odors
Ignorance carries loud
Smell of desperation
No matter the flattened feelings
Horror of distorted senses
Keeps the homeless
In storms
Odors abound
