Jamie Ries Poems

I look at myself in the mirror,
There's not much to look at here.
Inspect the angles of my hips,
One side, two sides, I let slip.
...

For all the times we talked
And the times we shared a laugh.
For all the times we sang Albertson songs together
And never once held back.
...

The simplest form of humanity-
Kindness.
Though outweighed by the power of Insecurity-
Mocks you to this day.
...

I was born into a world
where everything was possible,
Nothing was unreachable,
Everyone was happy,
...

Thick green trees
Align the highways
As we leave our home
And embark on a journey
...

I don’t know what to say
I can’t make sense of my own words anyway.

I fight the fire with more fire
...

I feel alone
Like I’ve been isolated from the world
Like I’m invisible
And no-one can see me.
...

I'm reaching out to an imaginary man,
who doesn't want to hurt me,
he just wants to hold my hand.
...

I didn’t ask for you to like me
I didn’t ask for you to care
I never asked for your heart
I never asked for your ever-lasting stare
...

I'm tired of your mind games
They're breaking me down.
I despise your attitude
It's causing me to frown.
...

She loved to run through the green forest,
Where the sun watched over her,
Where the lake’s cool and riveting motions
Met with the tranquil flow of the wind.
...

I was born innocent
My life was full of joy
Exciting adventures everywhere
But even those were all a ploy.
...

You think I hate you,
That I don’t want to talk,
You think I’m bitter
because I put up a block,
...

You look at me with hollow eyes,
They tell me your words are all lies.
I may look strong behind my disguise,
But don't be fooled,
...

Revelation

I look at myself in the mirror,
There's not much to look at here.
Inspect the angles of my hips,
One side, two sides, I let slip.

Examine my belly,
it's not flat,
It has some pudge,
I sure am fat.

Move up to my shoulders,
They're too wide,
Should I turn around and hide?
I look in my eyes.

Through them I see
I cannot be anyone else but me.
I love me,
Imperfect as you see,

Because flaws are beauty,
as a rose,
One thorn, two thorn,
Here it goes.
