Jana Rininger Poems

We are perfect, precise chameleons
transparent, colorchanging beings
Mirroring others and what we see
Shaping ourselves to what we want to be
...

The mists swirl, the moon shines bright.
No one dares stray here.
They would never desire to,
Unless the earth covers what they hold dear.
...

With clenched fists and teeth in turn
slamming down onto table top
her head drops low to the cool woodgrain
she prays for it all to go away, just stop.
...

I'd like to taste your chemical swirl,
Not your average tale of boy meets girl.
Cause you're blasting loud my rock and roll
That certain kind just sings to my soul.
...

I've been trying on new faces
Hoping with one I'll find my place
Cause I'm not sure what I want anymore.
I've written down a list just in case
...

There's gotta be something bigger than just this
There's gotta be something to make it all worth the risk
So I've been searching the world high and low
But there's many places I've yet to go
...

I got my hands up so high
I think I might just touch the sky
Carpe Diem, seize the day
It all just blows my mind away
...

shadows
dance
away in whisps
from the light
...

...If we got another chance
I know we could make this last...

But now all that's left of us
...

In the Autumn, I fell.
Broken, unholy, wrecked.
With time the trees withered
In envy, balances unchecked.
...

Under one thousand waterfalls
My soul shall be washed clean
I've said everything possible
Awful, biting words I didn't mean
...

Imperfection could be your middle name.
Doesn't matter one bit,
I'd love you just the same.
...

The boy at the redlight will never know
how much I admire him so
in his smooth blue sports car
gleaming bright as any star
...

You might be one in a million, baby
But I'm one in a trillion, baby.
You think you can stand beside me?
You better get yourself behind me.
...

Don't Leave, My Love,
I need you here.
You are my life, my light,
My world, and everything I hold dear.
...

There is a fire inside of us that burns
Causing the engine inside our minds to turn
Through blazing eyes and smoldering emotions
We are forced to make this machine churn.
...

One long, lonely winter
Can make or break a person
Can cause you to change for the better
Can cause your spirit to worsen
...

A glimpse to the future
Shows the stars are dull tonight
They seem so far off without you here
I'm missing you terribly
...

Sixth period is such a bore
Makes every breathe I take even seem like a chore
While the girl behind me starts to snore,
How I would love to just run out the door.
...

I reach for you
When I'm all alone
Lost without a clue
Not knowing what to do
...

I am the editor of my school's newspaper and yearbook. I love to have fun in the most random and childish ways. I wish people would take me more seriously. Chameleons

We are perfect, precise chameleons
transparent, colorchanging beings
Mirroring others and what we see
Shaping ourselves to what we want to be

But wouldn't it be queer
If for just one second here
We could be comfortable in our own unique skins
Accept and acknowledge our own imperfect sins

Let yourself not become one of the masses
Lost in a shuffled deck of cards
Come forth from these chameleons
Become the leader of the millions
