Jason Jinsung Lee Poems

Sweet death, sweet death, I think of you at night.
When I open my eyes to the morning light.
Sweet death, sweet death, I call to you at noon.
When I look to the sky and see a full moon.
...

All alone in my little world
I sit and stare and wait
Hoping for a shred of light
Something to change my fate
...

The bird sings, the clock ticks
Working so properly
They are not broken, they do not trick
But something is wrong with me
...

Oh, my beloved cousin
How dear you are to me
Although I might not show it
You fill me up with glee (no homo)

Sweet Death

Sweet death, sweet death, I think of you at night.
When I open my eyes to the morning light.
Sweet death, sweet death, I call to you at noon.
When I look to the sky and see a full moon.

Sweet death, sweet death, I see you in my dreams.
Where the birds go to drink from benevolent streams.
Sweet death, sweet death, I feel you in the breeze.
Where the wind goes it's way, with such mellow ease.

Sweet death, sweet death, I smell you in the air.
When the memories come, and I feel the despair.
Sweet death, sweet death, I taste you at lunch.
In the bread of my sandwich, when I sip my fruit punch.

Sweet death, sweet death, I hear you in the rain.
When the droplets trickle down the smooth window pane.
Sweet death, sweet death, I sense you when I cry.
When the tears fall down, and I whisper good-bye.

So what can I say, sweet death?
What shall I do?
Can you finally come?
Can I say that it's true?

For now I must go.
To my family, adieu.
Sweet death, sweet death
I welcome you.
