Jean Meyer Poems

The voices in my head
Are all talking to fast
I try to keep up
But they go right past
...

Deep in the jungle
from high above
Comes the roar of thunder
From the enemies gun.
...

Barely out of his teens
A young man went
To fight a war in a land
He had never seen.
...

The flag still flies
As proud as can be
After the horrible night
For you and me.
...

The man at the bar
We all know who you are.
You come in each day
To relax and play.
...

As a young boy you lost your mother
Who could be replaced by no other.

As a teen there's not much to say
...

The Voices In My Head

The voices in my head
Are all talking to fast
I try to keep up
But they go right past

They seem to want me
To write it all down
But as fast as I write
It all whirls around.

A jumble of words
My head is a spinning
My mind is a blur
And it's only the beginning.

There are soldiers who suffer
Then disappear
And people with cancer
From far and near.

Friends who need me
And those that don't
People I trust
And those I won't.

The world around me
Is on a fast track
I try to keep up
But keep falling back.

I reach for the soldier
To tell his tale
For those with cancer
I walk the trail.

For friends who need me
That's right where I'll be
Helping them out
Whatever the need be.

And if you don't need me
That's okay
Cause I'll be praying
For you today.

For the people I trust
I am glad you are near
To ward off the ones
You know I fear.

And to the voices
Inside my head
I hear what you say
And I wrote what you said.
