Cease

Will I cease?
When I am old, then will I cease?
I love to meet new people
make new friends
will I cease?
to hear all sides
to make amends
to remember
to forget the past and start again
to learn to speak to understand
to ask a stranger will you dance?
when I have seen it all
and done it all
the t-shirts hanging on the wall
then will I cease?
will I breathe and keep believing what I hear on network TV
close my eyes stare at the ceiling
your lips are moving I'm not hearing instead we
think Why are we here and
will I cease?
the greatest fear's to die alive
to let this life just pass us by
to watch it go and still not cry
so every night I ask myself and answer by
thinking of the reasons why
we breathe we dance we take our chances
why romance is more than happenstance and
how we keep believing
who we believe in
when the reaper comes to creep in
let it hope that we are sleeping
catch us while we're deeply dreaming
cause while we're woken
we will not be broken
we will not stop
we will not end
we'll dance we'll cry
we'll sing and try
to live this life while we're alive
will we cease?
No! There's more to it than breathing and believing
what you see on network tv
There's dancing girls and homemade music
First times and breakups and drug abusing
Winnings fun but we're loving losing
Losing our heads losing our cool
losing your virginity by the pool and
Waking up at just-where-am-I?
last night was hell and
who are you? I'm Amber who are you?
I'm Paul. It's nice to meet you, too.
Shall we dance?
Sure, but I don't remember where I left my pants.
to meet new people
to make new friends
to start all over
to make amends
to take a chance
to keep believing
who we believe in
Yes we can!
So ask again
that mortal question
and answer it with a merry gesture
