Biography of JIBAN GOSWAMI
I was born in Guwahati, Assam India. I did my schooling in Guwahati and did my B.Sc with Honours (Major, as it is known in many places) in Physics. I enrolled for my Master degree in Physics but landed in a coveted job before completing the course.
I retired as a senior Executive (As what is known as a Chief General Manager) from the State Bank of India, the largest Bank in India. I was posted for 4 years as the CEO of the Bank's Osaka operations, Japan, from 1996 to 2000.
I am married with two children. My wife is the Principal in charge of a Government School in my home town and she has another year of service left. My son is married and works for a software Company in Bangalore as does my daughter in law. Daughter is a PhD student in a German University under fellowship from Max Planck Institute.
I like reading. Some of my favorites are John Steinbeck, Graham Greene, Carlos Castaneda, PG Wodehouse, and many Indian authors. I am taking up translating Assamese (my mother tongue) novels and stories to English more as a pastime rather than with any serious intention of publishing. I like sketching a bit but not seriously.
I am 63 and spending a more or less contented retired life.

Autumn in Japan is is god's gift to man Trees cinderallise the green countryside almost overnight Every tree wears resplendent kimonos woven in myriad hues Greens sulking in the background as if deprived of its dues

CORRUPTION, THEY SAY, IS EVIL By By: Jiban Goswami Corruption they say is evil
My Backpack Is All That I Have
My backpack is filled with used memories As I trudge down the lonely road time charted for me. Friends and lovers come and go Our roads go together for a tiny while
The Universe Does Not Give A Damn
I don't know who lived five hundred years ago where my house stands now Nor would anybody know of my existence after passage of time What moved me, what woman engrossed my thoughts, lent me some meaning in life in face of the universe's crushing apathy I too will wither, the universe won't even notice
I Want To Talk Junk
Let me talk junk. I fee like it. I do hope nobody else is affected in any way.. skip it if it's too long or too inane.Do it your way Tentative at dawn, and emphatic by noon
Redolent Of Vinage Wine
As I trudge along to be swallowed by time only the wounds failing to heal follow me as faithful dogs Relish of sweets I tasted in life come back but fleetingly since they don't pinch me in my tattered shoes.
How I Wish
In A Railway Shanty
Sunbeams jostle for a passage, thru the forest's verdant canopy
Some trickle down to tickle torpid mosses, to throes of lucent ecstasy
