Joanna Gonzalez Poems

The crimson night is like a shattering breeze yet like blazing fire;
It awakes the five senses with intensity in one end and serenity in the other,
It devours your state of reasoning and fills your soul with confusion,
It is like a precious charm that results as your grandest curse,
...

Can you tell me what you did today; how many lives you saved?
What have you been thinking; how have you changed?
You stare with no emotion, but what have you to say?
Do you know who you are; what is your purpose?
...

My soul is hurting, my heart has shattered
My joy has swam away to the island of sorrows.
The eyes on my face are pebbles on the ground;
They have been stepped on and are covered with dust,
...

I got the call, they said you’d be here;
I’m looking everywhere, but I can’t find you.
Every doctor I see doesn’t give me the answer I want
Where are you, am I too late?
...

[Inspired by an excerpt from Midnight Sun]
...

We were young, we were proud;
They stood up then bowed down.
We can’t see the glory in their faces,
But they see ours.
...

It’s a beautiful life…
when the breath of existence evokes your senses;
you want to look beyond your destination
to embrace the tender soul that awaits you in the other side,
...

The delicacy of her songs
lures us in a state of ecstasy;
Her promising lyrics
penetrate our existence into something greater.
...

Events will transpire, but I won’t give in;
The world bleeds around me, but I’ll never break;
False pretenses and false alarms will not fool me.
They’ll arrive with assimilation engraved to their heads, but they will never destroy me.

The Crimson Night

The crimson night is like a shattering breeze yet like blazing fire;
It awakes the five senses with intensity in one end and serenity in the other,
It devours your state of reasoning and fills your soul with confusion,
It is like a precious charm that results as your grandest curse,
It is of the most radiant beauties in the face of this earth yet of the most wicked and horrifying,
It plays as a polished path to greatness but is in fact the isle of perpetual pain.
It is the thief of all identities and the subject of all tongues,
It is silent but lives in you,
Although it destroys you, you love it with every ounce of passion.
You treasure it with an amount of value that it does not deserve,
Within its darkness of the night, the crimson color of salvation sparks through that moment of dimness.
This could only be one thing…. Desire.
