John Madden Poems

The conflict in this poem's clear,
If one can merely lend an ear
To hear the fight that's present there,
Where flakes to trees and sleigh adhere.

I fell in love with her before I knew
That love was more than googly eyes and lust.
Surprising none, except perhaps for me,
When "we" was quickly trodden in the dust.

Resolved - A Snowy Evening

The conflict in this poem's clear,
If one can merely lend an ear
To hear the fight that's present there,
Where flakes to trees and sleigh adhere.

The speaker’s stopped in frigid air,
Though nothing’s worthy of his stare,
To equal that that’s on his plate,
For which he must exhibit care.

The promises he made await
To be fulfilled; he can’t be late,
He lingers in the white tableau,
Too long in inner frozen state.

The horse, it seems, knows he must go,
And leave the lovely woods in snow.
To finish what? We do not know.
What may await? We do not know.
