It darkens my doorstep and the corners of my heart,
Opal feathers spread amongst the coals of a dying fire.
One shining eye in the back of my mind,

I took but a book, blank as my face,
And pen to write my thoughts.

What gave thy strength to stand through ages past?

Or at thy brilliant sight did death fade fast?

Hiding in darkness behind prison bars,
Little time shall pass before you will fall,
And so, in the night you pray to the stars.
