I look around this desolate land
The gunshots seem to come hand in hand
I see the bodies that were once called men
But some of the faces reveal boys of ten
...

I feel the eyes watching me as I take a step
I hear the voices taunting me with every breath
Sometimes I wish that my skin was white
But would that really make things right?

Stay awake and stay alert
The caffeine drinks are wearing thin
I'm still not done what I have to do
So sleep cannot kick in
...

He sits and waits all day and night
I wonder what he is thinking
He grabs his breakfast and takes a bite
I wonder what he's drinking
...

I look around these foreign walls
And find only a sliver of hope
I look around to find a source of light
But find only the smallest hole
...

I stand in front of door number one
As brightness seeps through the cracks
I let the light take hold of me
Just for a look inside

There are lights ablaze in the eastern skies.
In the west, the sun sets, but can light die?
In the wake of all the people, they roam the night
Twisting and turning in their space ships might.
...

Can you hear that train coming?
It takes people to the last stop
I can hear that train coming
On the corner of rise and drop

A Lost War

I look around this desolate land
The gunshots seem to come hand in hand
I see the bodies that were once called men
But some of the faces reveal boys of ten
Their bodies wounded, drip of fresh blood
Their faces, still, are covered with mud

I walk around the different spaces
Wiping the mud off familiar faces
I see a body that moves among the rest
Crawling forward then crumbling to his chest
I run towards the fallen one
He clutches his heart and drops his gun

His was Red, the son of a pastor
Who wished his death to come much faster
His face was young and he gave me a smile
Said he was proud for a little while
He killed many men both young and old
And now it was his turn to appear bold

'To fight like this seemed so heroic
To die a death fit for a stoic
But now my death is sure to come
As I feel my body starting to numb
I'm sorry for what I have done
To kill so many innocent ones'

He rambled on, this boy named Red
But now he's silent, now he's dead.
