I've heard it said Karma can be that which rhymes with witch
And perhaps that statement is true.
For as the butt of many Christmas letter jokes,
The joke is now on you.
...

Anchors away my dear granddad.
You now rest with your maker,
Our hears here on earth
Shall be glad.
...

Oh I wonder when you wished your wish,
On behalf of your name's sake.
That a child would come and carry on,
Your name that follows Jake.

A Roasting Rhyme

I've heard it said Karma can be that which rhymes with witch
And perhaps that statement is true.
For as the butt of many Christmas letter jokes,
The joke is now on you.

Yet I pondered, how do you roast the man,
Who once the Visa bill comes shall discover he was also our host?
But I suppose some playful jabs
I might find to post.

For quite some time I've received much mocking
Over the Camry that I drive.
The question I pose during its faithful service,
How many of your GMC's have not survived?

There's been exciting hunting trips we've shared
Creating files of memories to last.
No doubt a classic one, at least to Grandma,
Was the time you drove off without paying for gas.

Tis been many a harvest moon gone by
I sought a bride from the first born of your clan.
Permission was granted with the constant reminder,
'All you asked for was her hand.'

But the years passed by, Amy was barren,
And perhaps you forgot or had a different look.
For there became on numerous occasions
I was to receive a special picture book.

Still waiting on the book, but nonetheless,
New additions we began to show.
A blond hair beauty with piercing blue eyes
To tug on your heart and take your dough.

Next your daughter bore a mini me
And wouldn't that just be your luck.
For now you know the days are numbered
On the keys to the 55 Chevy truck.

Family and friends if you will,
Picture with me this vision.
Bob ten toes up in the Lazy Boy-Snoring;
As the grandkids stealth in on their mission.

For as you recline your trouser pockets
Relinquish Disney treasure to behold.
Your hard earned coin sinks beneath
Becoming Grace and Caleb's pot of gold.

The time has come to wrap it up,
Just a few more words I'll say.
A blessing it's been for the many years
Long before and after our wedding day.

So, all raise a glass, honor this man of class,
Fill the room with Salute, Here Here and Cheers.
We drink to yesterday that paved the way
And toast today; to many more years.
