The old year is coming to an end,
A new year lies before us,
And in this approaching new year
There are wishful thoughts of hope and trust.

I envision the life of a sailor,
A ship on the ocean deep,
Violent winds blowing wildly,
Where raging waves seem to leap.

Life is like the weeping clouds
That rush swiftly across the sky,
Threatening to unleash a torrential burden,
And creating uncertainty as they go passing by.

Standing on the corner
Watching a parade going by,
I looked up toward the heaven
And saw a flock of birds flying high.
...

We met on a path of merriment,
Caring less at the start,
But other paths came later
And circumvented my lonely heart.
...

So much of the thoughts of winter,
The sameness of them all -
Always the snow shovel on the porch,
The galoshes in the hall.
...

Let me remain active, as I grow old.
There are many interesting things to do,
Salvaging the body and enlightening the mind,
And many activities not be new.
...

Each season yields its lofty ways
But none like the wintertime.
Snowflakes falling from the sky
In shapes and forms of every kind.
...

Memories of the days in a vast cover of the sun,
The bright, cloudless skies above the hills,
The long scenic roads of home,
The grazing, lush pastures on the slopes,
...

I'm amazed at the wind's changing mood,
Its ability to maneuver far and wide,
The quiet motion - the tumultuous ones,
The way it pushes at ones side.
