As green turns to red
Our eyes fixed ahead

She stands on the kerb
...

Suspension of disbelief
Has never been my strong point
Always taking the literal meaning
...

You're holding up a mirror
forcing me to look
little do you realise
I don't give a ****
...

I listened

neck craned
...

When I said that I read

Vita Sackville-West
...

La femme Parisienne
was there too, again
her jaunty 'newsboy' cap
flicking through a copy of Granta
...

I like the face
that looks back at me
we are allies
my reflection and me
...

I typed “evening” into the search engine
“buy and sell evening on e bay”

it enticed me
...

As Red Turns To Green

As green turns to red
Our eyes fixed ahead

She stands on the kerb
Our thoughts to disturb
For we know she is there
But we cannot bear
To see the effect
Of what we expect
When time takes hold
And makes us old
The lines on her face
We cannot embrace
Her mind in decay
Perhaps us one day?

So we feign unseen
As red turns to green
