Whispered words are all I have to offer
I am but a bare cage without the bird
No Adonisian features or grace
No opulent presents can I proffer
I hold only these hushed, honeyed words
Let these words then be my embrace:

O delicate, lovely Elizabeth
Whene'er I peer into your deep, still eyes
My prayers I know have all been sated
How I marvel at their measureless depths
Deeper still I fall and can simply sigh
For you and you alone was I fated.

Impossible this little flower
In this hoary world of corrupted clay
Impossible, yet here May's daughter blooms
Impervious to winter's hours
And time's inevitable decay
A red rose growing at an ashen tomb.
