The Poet Came

The Poet came
asking profundity
shattering barely fortified defenses
emotional barriers crashing
pretty garbage spilled reluctantly
tribute at his feet.

Comfort zones demolished
eyes and I's opened,
Awareness…….
began to flow.

Consciousness
of power, responsibility;
legacy;
Each word choice
anguished over
no less than the decision
to terminate life:

A child loved
But which can not be supported.

Debates flared
While truth struggled
From the mire
stones lifted from the
debris strewn beach,
excavated little by little
as reasoning unfolded,
tides receded
leaving
The salty sweet flavor on my lips
of that inner communion
when flow becomes
light
andyoujustknowitisright.

Epiphany.

And the moment passes as all
moments do
yet there's this quickening,
growing
something coming to term

conception talking root
not
duplication, replication;
this requires no fluid, no bodily secretions
just crystalline concepts

spontaneous generation

like orgasmic eruptions
of kaleidoscopic light
multihued birthings
natural combinations
of in-sight,
inspiration.

An ongoing process,
this birth of new life
conceived with his guiding,
as poetic midwife.

Changed fundamentally
yet never more me
"grateful's" and" thank you's"

just

fall

flat;

empty chords struck
without harmony,

unable to exalt! ! ! ! !

like this new
inner symphony which drums in my
heart,
backdropp to these words
and increasing moments,
flashing moments; ever clear
causing me to grasp pencil and paper
over and over again….

So
sappy tributes
Mahogany quotes
Will NOT do

Only warmth
hands clasped on shoulder blades
Cheek to cheek
Blushing
as Emotion,
un-articulated,
(even in these lines) ,
flows back to its source
multiplied, shared
giving back…..
To the Poet who came.
