An Ode To Modern-Day Study Habits

Comfy chair, laptop charged, a healthy meal and a smile.
I sit at my desk ready to delight in my (inser subject here) book for a while.

I’ve paid till I hurt, and let other wants go, all to make it to class,
My aspirations this coming semester are more than simply to “pass.”

But even as I, begin to try, at making the most of this date,
My Facebook page looms, unceasingly ready, to set my errant mind straight.

“My baby’s the size of a cantaloupe! ” One post stands out from the rest.
Incredible it seems, once that baby was me, crammed between pelvis and chest.

And on it goes, it goes on and on, until I finally say,
If its the last thing I do, I’ll get some work done, before the end of the day!

But oh what sadness grabs hold of my soul, when I turn to look at the clock.
I’ve spent the last two hours of my life, comparing babies to crops!

Chair flat, laptop dying, my belly empty again,
I frown at the complete, and utter waste of time, this moment of my life has been.

I hastily fumble through pages of text, not even stopping to stalk.
Until I just can’t take any more, and I take a quick look at the clock.

Only ten minutes! Could that really be all? ! It seems like its been forever!
And so goes the tale of days spent “studying”
