Please note that my uncle Kenneth Allott, although born in Wales, was of Anglo Irish descent. His father, Dr Cyril Allott was working briefly as a locum at the time. By 1914 he was in Cumberland where his second son, my father was born. After that the family moved to Shropshire. Ken's mother was Rose Finlay, born on Tyneside of Irish parents. Ken and Guy were raised as Catholics and Ken always identified with the Irish side of the family.

Offering

I offer you my forests and my street-cries
With hands of double-patience under the clock,
The antiseptic arguments and lies
Uttered before the flood, the submerged rock.
The sack of meal pierced by the handsome fencer,
The flowers dying for a great adventure.

I offer you the mysterious parable,
The mount of reason, the hero's glassy hymn,

[Hata Bildir]
