When Roger Maris hit Sixty One Homeruns
Nobody Smilied
Everybody thought it was a shame
Maris wasn't a true Yankee
...
When we entered the National Hockey League
we were nobodies.
We were considered a joke
but all that changed with two men.
...
It's Sunday Night
Baseball is on ESPN
And the lovely voice of Jon Miller begins.

I inspire to be like one Craig T. Nelson, no not him as an actor, but his role in 'Coach'. I thought he was the best. My heroes include Mills Lane, Nelson, Robert Palmer, and finally, Mike Bossy. I am a lifetime Islanders fan, and prefer the finer things in life, like Red Lobster, and Tully's (Okay, Tully's isn't considered 'fine') . Somedays, I dream about becoming Arnold Palmer, others could be Mike Milbury, so I could prevent him from his stupid decision making. I am, ironic enough, a Cleveland Indians fan. I believe I must be the only person from Long Island thats a Indians fan. I listen to Opie and Anthony, and I hate the New York Rangers with a passion. I'm a big sports nut, which you'll realize in my poems.)
A-Rod Is New York's New Roger Maris
When Roger Maris hit Sixty One Homeruns
Nobody Smilied
Everybody thought it was a shame
Maris wasn't a true Yankee
He was no Babe Ruth
Alex Rodirguez was acquired
He is the Highest Payed
Yet is the scapegoat for Series loss.
People throw the term True Yankee around
I throw that term in the trash
New York doesn't apprecite having
One of the greats
He didn't develop in there system
He wasn't handed Gold Gloves on a Silver Platter
He isn't Mr. November
Yet he's a much better player
But New York is too ignorant
If Alex Rodriguez were to be traded to my team
I'd love him
And crave for more
He is an all time great
and no overrated sloutch
like Number 2
