We take each moment of this,
our seemingly infinite flail we define as life,
and try to put the pieces together like a puzzle.

If only for a fleeting moment I would like to be
One of those little white moths you see in the grass
Dancing in mid-flight directionless lunacy
Surrounded by spectrum-like dew and moonlight

What Do You Think About Before You Fall Asleep?

We take each moment of this,
our seemingly infinite flail we define as life,
and try to put the pieces together like a puzzle.

However, life does not fit together like a puzzle, nor even on a line.
More like a collage, or even more so like unbounded galleries of works of art.
The halls between something like the stairs of M.C. Escher.

Moments come in different shapes, sizes, hues, and intensities.
They plummet and soar, overlap, zigzag,
and spread like webbing and sparks flying off in infinite dimensional direction.

Some memories are like chalk drawings forgotten on the next rainfall.
Others marked in our flesh never to be lost
even as others fade as they age and time is skewed as it stretches past clarity.

The emotion, however subtle or passionate,
cannot be contained in our fragile frames
and so we have self-expression.

We bust through our confines and throw our contents into the world.
We have art! We have reflections of self.
What are we if not artists and works of art ourselves?
