California Summer

Freshly cut fat corncobs,
Cherry trees exploding juicy red fireworks,
Apricot trees plopping warm furry orange drops of sunlight,
Plums begging to be burst by bird beaks.
Rich dark soil nurses nature’s pantry.
Cardboard signs rest and the hungry homeless vacation in shaded, sated satisfaction.
