Kindly old man with eyes so blue
Rises slowly, shuffles to his room
Lies down carefully upon the bed
Thoughts and memories crowd his head
...

They point, they stare, they laugh
Always trying to impress
Desperately
Never good enough

Kindly Old Man

Kindly old man with eyes so blue
Rises slowly, shuffles to his room
Lies down carefully upon the bed
Thoughts and memories crowd his head
Married 68 years to a woman so dear
Its hard to believe she's no longer here
In his mind he can smell her perfume
Reminds him of the time their love began to bloom
A marriage made in heaven, and five children, too
For 68 years they stuck like glue
So much in love, others were in awe
Years flew by and he loved her even more
Just two years ago cancer claimed her life
A once blissful man lost his beautiful wife
Missing her so much the spark left his eyes
Each day she is gone a part of him dies
But now tonight, as he rests upon his bed
Remembering those vows that so long ago they said
In the place where his wife once lay
This kindly old man has now passed away
And up in the heavens so high above
He joins the woman, who, for so long, he's loved
