Lanton Shelby Poems

The breaking light—to start the day,
My mind, a fog of thoughts not gone away,
The brisk air brushes my face, I open my eyes,
These dreams, I’m sure will be my own demise,
...

My life is reminiscent of an elevator,
Alone in the corner I stand,
In solitude the changes are subtle,
Through the ups and downs,

This thought I wish I did not bear,
Hides deep inside my makeshift heart,

Dreaming

The breaking light—to start the day,
My mind, a fog of thoughts not gone away,
The brisk air brushes my face, I open my eyes,
These dreams, I’m sure will be my own demise,
If left unchecked, they’ll only grow,
I cannot forget them, this I know,
To ignore the truth, seems such a waste,
But my thoughts I’ll share with no such haste,
A dream is naught, merely just a dream,
And what I see, is surely far from what it seems,
The light is fading, dusk approaching readily,
My thoughts are racing, speeding up quite steadily,
Night is here again, square one we’re at it seems,
I’ll see you soon my love, but only in my dreams.
