Forbidden Love

As the light embraces the room
So I wish to encase you in my arms,
but you are gone.
We share our bodies and share our time
but opportunities so limited, so brief.
Your body portrays love and affection
And yet, where lie your thoughts?
I know your partner waits
and it is he betrayed,
But does he receive your smile?
Our smile?
And delight on your tender lips?
I am forced to share you
As one would share a coat or a scarf.
But without you I am naked.
My arms embrace your scent on the pillow,
But I am left alone,
With nothing but hope and anticipation,
That next time, you will stay.
