I try not to dwell on what has passed,
Not much there to make me smile

When you said that you were my lord;
You shined like a star about to burn out,
You held me captive with every word

I find my sorrows to be lightened
When I sing of things that grieve my heart;
When the threat of despair is heightened,
It is then my feeble warblings start;

Do not come gently into my dark night!
Intrude boldly on this loneliness
That creeps through my veins like a killing blight,
And no words of comfort can suppress
...

Toward that mystic land of fond memories
I wandered alone at end of day;
Climbing well-known hills with sure-footed ease,
Down familiar paths I made my way
...

God knows the ocean needs the waiting shore
To welcome the tides as they flow;
God knows the birds need their wings to soar,
Is He not aware that I need you so?

Life chewed up my dreams, and then spit them out,
My passion quelled, overcome by doubt,
Hope and joy have vanished from my world;
Now I walk with arms outstretched to the sky,

Love is as fleeting as the moment
It makes its introduction,
Stirring the heart, and clouding the mind
With its sweet and tender seduction

Help me escape the cares of life,
Be the wind beneath my wings,
Dream along with me, what partners we'll be,
