Luis Steven Poems

I dream dreams of sorrow
I dream dreams of peace
I dream dreams of tomorrow
Where this violence will one day cease
...

All that's left on the field
Are the scorched remains of the trees
Broken hearts need to be healed
Hatred is a disease
...

We all need a hand to hold
When the streets aren't paved with gold
We all need some time to breathe
When we don't know what to believe
...

I can hear the truth between your lies
I can see the sadness in your eyes
I can hear the anguish in your cries
I know everything that you despise
...

My only friend is the pen I use to stain my heart on these pages
My only companion dwells in my mind trying to find what a sage is
And it's outrageous
These different stages we go through in life
...

Street light, standing all alone
A body without a bone
Inside you're a hollow empty shell
Outside you shine so bright
...

Tell me what remedies you have for this soul
There are so many things the sky shouldn't know
But with a bird's eye view
Things aren't so blue
...

What's it like to live inside a cold steel cage
When you've given what you have to give, you're filled with rage
Mistakes are always relived, you just need to disengage
Free yourself from those black iron bars
...

14.

All these feelings bottled up inside
In the confines of my mind
Who knows what you'll find
...

I flew too close to the sun today
I wanted a taste of the sweet sun's rays
I wanted to see what's beyond the stars
But I didn't get very far
...

Jump on the white horse
Ride to where the devils go
I tried to change my course
But demons never sleep
...

You know there is nothing quite like
Riding your bike on a mid October night
As the wind flows past your face
And on the tip of your tongue you can just taste
...

There's a city underneath a wooden log
Filled with hippies covered in the swamp moss
Saving time and money is a lost cause
Because at the end of the day it all just goes away
...

Refresh, refresh, rewind
The pictures in my mind

A test, a test, deadline
...

Blue Sky

I dream dreams of sorrow
I dream dreams of peace
I dream dreams of tomorrow
Where this violence will one day cease

I hear children screaming
I hear the parents cries
I see the raindrops falling
From their deep vast eyes

I see the people tremble
I feel my own heart ache
Their homes turned to rubble
From this devastating earthquake

Let us all walk together
To where our dreams may lie
Let's always remember
We share the same blue sky
