Lynn Grassette Poems

How many nights do I have to hope?
Silently, quietly, and all alone
How much hurt will penetrate this dark?
(Seeping through skin, desecrating my heart)
...

Twenty years from this day
When we've gone separate ways
When all is grown, all has changed
And time causes feelings to fade
...

Familiar drops
Drip from my eyes,
And skies are lit
Like lantern lights
...

i miss you
though it's only been seven hours,
if only to feel that substance again;
that intoxicates me,
...

“I...” he stutters
I just stare at him

“I....’ he stumbles
...

Water washes,
Repeatedly over stones,
Gently turning them to sand;
Specks upon this land
...

I think I've been in love with you
Since the dawn of love first bloomed
For as long as the wind has whispered words;
Conversing with the moon
...

Morning is a rude awakening
to the 100 thread count sheets
and the lover I know will leave
Though maybe some coffee, or black tea,
...

Colors turn from orange to dark purple
The mountains emphasizing the shades
Covering my eyes from the brilliance
I sigh, another wonderful day.
...

10.

As if,
This love was just a trip;
You pack all your things
When the wind sadly shifts
...

Found you in bed, with salt stained checks
Knew there were things you hadn’t told me
Focused my energy, prayed to see
The things you’ve been hiding so deeply
...

The 50 cent notebook
With its shiny green cover,
And college ruled paper,
Brought me more relief
...

We act
As if on stage
Enveloped in our roles
Reading the empty lines
...

You don't even know
The coldness of the snow,
How time can stop and slow,
And that loves comes and goes.
...

The thought of 6000 lonely miles;
Hours of interstate; roads worn and vile
Toll booths and highway exit signs.
Or a 4 hour,300 dollar plane ride
...

We lie tangled and entwined;
Embedded in each others skin
Staying silent; almost completely combined
Unknowing where our own hands begin
...

I love you, like I make love you.

Nothing but good intent, in every move I make;
To please you, oh, to squeeze you, to ease your every ache.
...

If there weren’t walls and chained link fence
There would be acres of fields and open space instead.

Enough room to run
...

You are the ocean,
And I, alone, am drifting upon you,
I alone, am drowning in your fierce waves;
Barley able to keep my head above the water
...

I take it all back;

Every kind gesture, every loving word
Everything I let myself assume that you deserve
...

Lynn Grassette Biography

Writing has always been the best outlet for my emotions and creativity. Although many of the poems I have up are older, I hope to jump back on the bandwagon and really start penning again.)

The Best Poem Of Lynn Grassette

Your Love Destroys

How many nights do I have to hope?
Silently, quietly, and all alone
How much hurt will penetrate this dark?
(Seeping through skin, desecrating my heart)

Babe I keep my chin up just like you said
But it's these fabrications that leave me misled
Babe I try to vanquish these demons,
But it's so hollow here without any reason

Empty words cradle me with no meaning
Silence stands watch while all the worlds screaming
This room is a prison, this love is a chain
Your ghost mocks me and bloody wounds remain

With the sun I’ll rise, regain my strength
Believe for another day that I only need faith
Then night will come, a never ending cycle
Bringing the weight under which I cripple

Your love was my food, my delight, my wine
Now it’s the poison that destroys my inside
