Madhu Kailas Poems

Hollowed earth,
a large reservoir of emptiness.
Deep down where only
the moon can touch
...

Transit of fleeting frames.
The world travels through window lens.

Tracks run moored to their seeds
...

Today, to mindless killing
our poetry stands witness
with marble eyes.
...

Blue ambient earth converges
at the tip of blue ribbons.

A square glass frame cradles
...

(I)

build me a river
so I can swim my desire
...

Once a man
braved to walk through the sun.
Thereafter he cast no shadows,
and colours could choose him no more.
...

I falter quite a bit
'cause you made me a half-poet.

I trip on words like 'Perhaps'.
...

Oh! How bracing is it to return to you
after few days of venture to vend our ware.

Along unknown lanes of bohemia
...

Yesterday is reduced to a midget box
in the calendar (on the wall) .

Tastes like ashtray and
...

Youth stretches her repertoire
form end to end of newfound land.
World quietly ignores it.

Copper Mine

Hollowed earth,
a large reservoir of emptiness.
Deep down where only
the moon can touch
dregs of an empty cup,
static turquoise fluid
of residual copper blood.

Cyclopean machines
crawl like dwarf ants.
Along grooves etched by mortal hands.
Gnaw at rocks,
startled out of deep sleep
to be stripped.

An ancient cave painting
tumbles out of extinction
delineated by squished insect blood
on ochre flats.

Dead insects scrabble out of rocks
on the landscape of our civilisation.
