Biography of Malay Roychoudhury

Malay Roychoudhury, a Bengali poet, novelist, dramatist, short story writer and essayist, had launched the famous Hungryalist Movement(also known as The Hungry Generation) alongwith his elder brother Samir Roychoudhury, Shakti Chattopadhyay and Haradhon Dhara (alias Debi Roy) during 1915 and 1965.Others who joined the movement were Binoy Majumdar, Sandipan Chattopadhyay, Pradip Choudhuri, Subo Acharya, Falguni Ray, Tridib Mitra, Alo Mitra, Anil Karanjai, Karunanidhan Mukhopadhyay, Ramananda Chattopadhyay, Utpalkumar Basu, Saileswar Ghgosh, Subhash Ghosh etc.
Malay Roychoudhurey's poem STARK ELECTRIC JESUS became the ultimet achievement of the movement. The poem has been translated into many languages. Prof Swati Banerjee has done her M.Phil. on Malay's poetry.
