Marc O'Maolain Poems

Savasana

Hardest yoga posture of all
To just lie still and let it fall
...

Fear of expressing what my heart feels

Dread of dead metaphors
...

Falling like rose petals, releasing my pain

Sweat falls from me like Divine rain
...

Ishvara Pranidhana

Surrender ego and gain the world
Beyond my self, the Self unfurled
...

In Lotus

I fear that I will never be
Sitting in Lotus comfortably
...

Sadhaka

No a yogi, no not me
Content an aspiurant to be
...

Dhanurasana

What once was hard now seems to me
A joy, a comfort, setting free
...

Ode to Spring

Verdant scent upon the air
...

Passing by to hearth and home

Alone in cars they hurry
...

I love, yes, I think I do

Or maybe not, my love is true
...

Iamb, trochee, left unstressed

Decameter, pentameter, words unblessed
...

Inside that body

Precious treasure in a chest
...

Jai Yi, brilliant mind

Inscrutable what lies there
...

Dark hair cut short – nice

Eyes gleam like deep, still water
...

Mudra of peace, mudra of love
Complete the circuit
To Samadhi above
...

Complete the circuit divine
Hands and fingertips touch
With gratitude both yours and mine
We chant gently, saying much
...

When my voice has faded
And I am dead and gone
If all my love seems jaded
And all my dreams prove wrong
...

This is actually lyrics for a song I wrote, in a more lugubrious phase of my life...

Key of G,3/4 time
...

Another sad song from the lugubrious phase of my life...gotta write these down while I remember them, since I rarely play them anymore

Key of D

Savasana

Savasana

Hardest yoga posture of all
To just lie still and let it fall
Thoughts and ego, hopes and fears
Lust and love, sweat and tears

To lie there still and to just be
Present, fully, eyes don’t see
Ears don’t hear, no senses impign
Upon this sublime bliss of mine

I’ve climbed the mountain and now I’ll be
Content on the summit of this thing called me
Letting all my muscles relax
Let my bloated ego collapse

Perhaps the hardest thing of all
Still the chattering of the mind
To lose the ego and to find
My self and lose it, slip through the wall

-Sadhaka
