The fondest memories I've ever had
are when I lived with my grandparents, brother, and dad.
Waiting for grandpa to come home from work
to give us mint candy with a sincere smirk.

Spring is here, it's time to cheer.
Blooming flowers covering the ground,
Please take a moment and have a look around.
It's been a year since you've seen this here!
...

I felt like a stranger in my own surroundings
And one day you came along.
In a life that was so chaotic
You were the only thing that didn't seem wrong.
...

I hate how I feel
I hate being depressed.
I hate feeling regressed.
Tell me, what is the deal? !
...

I sit and think,
I wish I'd had a shrink.
As I watch myself start to decay,
I'm just not feeling it today.
...

I look at these comments and smile with glee
In disbelief of the kinds words that have been bestowed upon me.
It's hard to share these thoughts inside of my head
But easier as my confidence is fed.

I look forward to this year
Kicking my butt into gear.
I'm the one with all the clout
Sailing through without a doubt.

Childhood Memories

The fondest memories I've ever had
are when I lived with my grandparents, brother, and dad.
Waiting for grandpa to come home from work
to give us mint candy with a sincere smirk.
Climbing the branches of the dogwood tree,
Racing through the garden, happy as can be.
Working with grandpa in his woodshop,
Listening to grandma tell fables of Aesop.
Swimming in the ditch after a huge rainstorm,
bobbing for crab apples, for us that was the norm.
There are so many memories that I could say
But I'll save those for another day.
The best part is sharing these with my brother.
I wouldn't have enjoyed my life with any other.
Love was the glue that held us together.
We'd hold hands and face the storms and bad weather.
This humble home is where we derived.
Full of love, we were never deprived.
