Marie Morgart Poems

The streets that lie along the shore
Are quiet now, before the dark;
But soon, the menace will arrive...
(All paths deserted in the park.)
...

I lift
my eyes against
the dark; a sequin winks...
sewn tight against the fabric
...

I've pondered oft the makeup of this one...
Swept free of mortal bonds and ev'ry ill;
To me, his emanation has become
More flawless than an artist could fulfill.

The Menace

The streets that lie along the shore
Are quiet now, before the dark;
But soon, the menace will arrive...
(All paths deserted in the park.)

Today, this troubled neighborhood
Awaits whatever grief may come;
Will someone's son give up his life
And shatter joy in someone's home?

Beyond my window lies the sea,
Ruffled by gentle bursts of rain;
Both sky and ocean mist in gray...
Do angel tears splash on my pane?
