There's an old Tudor pub, that I know
Just off the high street in town
And though the owners and staff
Categorically claim there's no ghost

He went out one night
For a long, late walk
Alone with his thoughts
Desiring no other company
...

I sat down one evening
In my favourite chair
Pen and pad were to hand
At the wall, I did stare
...

This prison that he knows so well
Is just twelve paces by six
The bed is a hard plank, covered with straw
With no pillow to cushion his head
...

Dark green above and gold beneath
He was a wonderous sight
But points and wings and tail barb
Were as black as deepest night
...

Come with us, said the team
We're going up to the old mansion
Don't go, said the locals, be warned
It's haunted beyond comprehension

I dreamt it was a freezing frosty night
Stars and moon shone sharpely bright
I walked alone the mountain path
My every foostep crackled
...

Big trumpet lilies and huge gerber daisies
Anenomes compete with colourful carnations
Many petaled dahlias sit in buckets
Alongside their cousins, lovely crysanthemums
...

Up and over the mountain
Sweeping down to the valley below
Using the thermals, wings outstretched
Looking for that elusive meal
