Mark Walters Poems

I didn't die to ease your life

To fill your wallet
...

Hope's in a living future
Not just a storied past
Patchwork prairies still hold vast
Vistas sewn in peace that last
...

While looking thru my rearview
I drive where I have been
It offers such a clear view
Of where I was back then
...

I'm dying of thirst from wanting my way;
Drank deep from the well of sin in my day.
My life is now potsherds; all broken and dry;
Don’t have the moisture, to spit in their eye.
...

A slumber in the light of day
My comfort zone, tar baby's arms
In depravity I slept away
Till true love spoke Your charms
...

Amidst my life, the world explodes
I see my plans and hopes erode
Assumptions break apart as glass
Swirling down into a dark morass
...

To steer the compass course of life
Set the rigging of your heart
Against the winds of care and strife
That strain to tear our lives apart
...

As the twilight follows daytime
And daybreak follows night
So we are led to find our way
In the timing of His light
...

I met a ragged man
Who walked a crooked mile
Though he was stooped, and weary
I thought I caught a smile
...

Adulation and praise
Twisted sisters of desire
Bred in every heart that beats
Born to stoke a hellish fire
...

I'm expectant from Your Word
Holy Spirit fill my womb
Thy rapture now enfolds me
In the quiet of my room
...

LIVING LETTERS

You were written into time
Scripted in eternity
...

She walks in beauty as the night

Lonely ambers reflecting light
...

Morning sun beams down the hill,
Warming up life on God's porch.
Lazy morners get our fill,
Waking up in nature's church.
...

Breathe in the new life, His army to raise
Breathe on the dry bones, rise up from the grave
Speak boldly that flesh and sinews may cover
Speak life that the lips, long dead may deliver
...

Turning, winding,
Twisting, binding,
Little ties entwine
Your DNA's a living dance
...

Ridgebacks shiver as they climb,
Tickling old man mountain.
It creeps up one rock at a time.
Pebbles wheezing here,
...

Tiny bubbles bring big trouble
as they just keep breaking through.
My bathtubs overflowing,
and the washers foaming too.
...

The face of God,
from time to time,
in form appears,
through yours or mine.
...

An overcoming life of grace
Is not won by warring will
When all hell attacks apace
I must let my thoughts distill
...

Signs Of Life

I didn't die to ease your life

To fill your wallet

Or fix your wife

I wasn't true so you could lie

Or turn away

But learn to die

I wasn't mocked that you'd be safe

But sent a sword

So life would chafe

My blood was shed to set you free

For eagles soar

In liberty

Die to your flesh and live for Me

The cross you need

If you will be

The sons of God borne out of strife

The fight within you

A sign of life

Brevity is attainable in briefs Unless they're legal

A murmur's just a rumor that doesn't have it's boots laced up yet
