Mary OBrien Poems

It is a better life I lead
By following my own path
Breaking restraints of the past
Breathing deep and letting go
...

2.

I lost you once before
You slipped through my hands
As the waves pulled me under

Salt water is stinging in my eyes
...

Tossing and turning
My brain, a spider web
Unwinding thread by thread
So much I want to say, but will go unsaid
...

4.

Drive on, drive on
Far away from here
Don't turn back
You must forget
...

Stumbling backwards
Into this strange new life
Picking up the pieces
One by one off the floor
...

A soft whisper was heard
Clinging to the fog covering my eyes
So faint I couldn't make out the words
...

Meet me on the other side
Where life's only a sunset
That we were only glancing through
Always worrying what to say
...

Mary OBrien Biography

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion; but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality; it is an escape from personality. But, of course only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things. T.S. Eliot)

The Best Poem Of Mary OBrien

Good Life

It is a better life I lead
By following my own path
Breaking restraints of the past
Breathing deep and letting go
Having enough courage to say, 'no'
Fighting fear by not giving in
Fueling my spirit from within
Filling in cracks and healing scars
Looking up towards the stars
Accepting I'm bent not broken
With my arms wide open
Embracing things yet to come
With a new song to be sung
My destiny, is the one I make
My life is not yours to take
Faithfully I bear my soul
Finally I'm feeling whole
So much better the life that I lead
Now I know I am the only one I need
