I see that you've started numbering your poems. I haven't had much time to catch up on my reading lately, so I don't know when this numerical order began or exactly what it means. Perhaps, the numbered writings are ones in which you place higher confidence or pride? Are these the poems you wish for readers to pay special attention to?

Max, Max, Max. I have assumed for months now that I've expressed how much I love reading your work, and just now realized that I haven't on your site. Well, here goes. Everytime I see a new one by you I have to follow the white mouse and check it out. Whenever I need a quick poetry fix or food for thought, I often wander your way. And let's give a round of applause one more time for the high you gave us all by lending your voice to our work on acidplanet to bring our words to life! You are one of the most sincere, informative, and generous souls on this site, and it would not be the same without you! Keep up the good work, Dude. Now get back to writing.

Yes, your poems show you are very much in the swim of things, which you feel deserve to be written about, and to be kind of presented to the world peopled by the cruel, as somewhat opposed to the famous Shakesperean dictum: we have to be cruel to be kind.
Anyway, I shouldn't make things more complicated than they deserve to be; for I wonder whoever escapes the very turn of those unexpected things that bring the essence of life itself. And every writer expresses what he has got along the way, by adding the spices of art to his works, otherwise those couldn't have attracted the sort of attention we often can expect to find in a pin-dropp silence. Max, I respect your maturity, not because you are in the 50s, but because you have a mind that makes you think things out to a happy end. And, of course, you are not spiritually barren. So, I hope you will birth far better poems you have written so far, and read works by others as if you set to watch every heartbeat of others you will come across in the days to come. Keep it up for yourself and for all your well-wishers. Don't you think I should include myself in that list?

The ability of Max to plunge you into painful, hysterics or profound thought is this poet's greatest gift. Yet there is a thread that seems to run through his works and that is spiritualism (not in the occult meaning but as something; a faith, that is ever present) . Maxs' worldview shine through each line of his, yet he is never preachy, never dogmatic. He can be self depricatious as well as seriously projecting himself, at the same time.
All this sound as if Max is practiced in multi skills. But Max is only versed in one approach and that is the Art of being Max.

Often times when reading the words of Mr. Reif, I realize what is good and pure about poetry.
Life, as it comes one step at a time for someone who truly knows how to observe a moment.
This site is a better place because of his presence, I hope he continues to share his thoughts with us.

Max, thank you for commenting on my work. I have now been reading yours and find there is a lovely simplicity of statement in it - an enchanting mix of worldly and unworldly. I came to poetry late in life, that's why I think I'll be finishing early, rather than later! ! Regards, Gol

When a new woman enters my life,
the time comes to introduce her
