Mekael Shane Poems
Father to Son
Perhaps One day My son will ask 'Dad, why do you climb? '
In my mind I raced against time I smoked peyote with the Apache I chased Kangaroos Through the bush with the Aborigine
Tribal beats are sounding Inside my head; echoing and pounding Demanding that I come home But which way do I go
Gods of War
Souls sold for Antiquated crude As bitter enemies crossed over Frozen tundra and vast deserts to duel
Lovely Is She
Lovely is she Who came And rescued me
As We Sail By
We float Through purple-velvet skies Out where black holes are born And the Milky Way lies
German shepherd dogs And the water hose Black skin cleaved from bone Pain in America's guttural
Dawn and I dawn my caftan With my pen in hand I close my eyes And start crafting
The Skardu Valley
Masked in Gray and brown Ancient Shale dust
Father to Son
My son will ask
'Dad, why do you climb? '
So you can fly
